As cancellations abound due to the nationwide COVID 19 coronavirus emergency, businesses in downtown Oswego remain open.

In a statement posted to the Oswego Downtown Association Facebook page Friday, owner of Floral Expressions and President Megan Dell’Aringa reassured area residents that Main Street and the downtown business district remain open for business.

"Like everyone, we are struggling with the uncertainty of what will come in the future in regards to COVID-19. We are collectively worried about our community's health and safety, as well as our employees' abilities to provide for our families," Dell'Aringa wrote.

"Shopping local is important every day, but even more so now. Our owners operate on very small margins and very small staff. We need your support to keep all of us afloat during this difficult time," she continued.

Dell'Aringa listed ways that shoppers could help businesses in the association including taking part in online sales, buying gift cards for future use, booking classes, or placing a delivery order.

She also provided a list of items that can be found at downtown shops that could help customers avoid long lines at stores including: donuts, hand sanitizer, cleaning products, food, gourmet food, coffee, snacks, cards, gifts, soaps, spices, dog food, dog supplies, clothing and hair care.

"We will continue to monitor the situation and implement the best practices as new information becomes available," Dell'Aringa wrote.

In the meantime, she encouraged patrons to keep the downtown association in mind as a convenient stop for needs.
