YMCA in Peru, Mendota closing upon coronavirus-related directives

Illinois Valley YMCA chief executive officer David Potthoff made efforts to deep clean the facilities early Monday, but received advice to close the Illinois Valley & Mendota Area YMCA Monday.

“Based on the advice of the YMCA-USA, The State of Illinois, Public Health officials, the facility, and our programs will be closed,” Potthoff stated on Facebook late Monday. “The Y staff will deep clean all areas. Our hope is that the coronavirus can be contained, develop treatment, and our populations are protected.

“We will continue to monitor this situation with the hope we will open very soon. We thank you all for your understanding during this difficult situation,” Potthoff stated.
