In one of the most crowded primary races this election season, state Sen. Sue Rezin, R-Morris, conceded to Sen. Jim Oberweis, R-Sugar Grove, in vying for the GOP nomination for the 14th Congressional District seat.
In a campaign email sent at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday, Rezin, whose state senate district includes La Salle County, conceded to Oberweis.
"I am proud of the substantive campaign we ran, and thank all of my supporters from the bottom of my heart," Rezin said. "Jim worked hard and deserves our support in November."
As of 10:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oberweis led the 14th district with roughly 11,000 votes next to Rezin's roughly 10,100 votes and Woodstock resident Catalina Lauf's roughly 8,900 votes, with four others also tallying votes.
