Update: Tornado watch issued for DeKalb County as thunderstorms flood parts of Kishwaukee River

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for DeKalb County until 2 a.m. Sunday, which joins a hazardous weather watch in effect through the weekend.

DeKalb County could see winds up to 60 miles per hour.

The county also remains under a flood advisory through 5:15 a.m. Sunday, according to the National Weather Service, and parts of the Kishwaukee River could be seen overflowing Saturday evening.

A Daily Chronicle reporter grabbed video of the Kish overflowing along Coltonville Road Saturday evening on the way to Sycamore.

Thunderstorms Friday night into Saturday morning are expected to continue through the weekend, and a flood advisory was issued for DeKalb County due to the heavy rain, with minor flooding expected.

The National Weather Service urges drivers to be especially cautious at night when it's harder to recognize the dangers of flooding or how deep water may rise on roadways.

Thunderstorms are expected to continue through Saturday at 11 p.m, with up to a quarter an inch of rainfall accumulation likely.

A wind advisory is also in effect for DeKalb County through 4 a.m. Sunday.
