ROCK FALLS – First Open Bible Church canceled group services today following community backlash for breaking the governor's stay-at-home order.
The church's decision to hold weekend in-person services at 2105 E. Rock Falls Road sparked uproar on social media as well as calls to law enforcement.
Gatherings of 10 or more people are prohibited by Gov. J.B. Pritzker's executive order to curb the spread of coronavirus, and people are told to stay home through April, with the exception of essential needs or business activities.
"We will be on the internet. God's blessings. Stay in prayer," the Rev. Les Funderberg said on social media this morning.
Services are canceled until further notice.
