Dixon's Reagan Run 5K run canceled due to COVID-19 outbreak

Popular Petunia Fest 5K race canceled due to COVID-19 outbreak

DIXON – This year’s Reagan Run has come to a halt after the ongoing COVID-19 health scare indefinitely delayed preparations for the popular 5K event.

Organizers of the race announced Saturday morning on its Facebook page, at Reagan Run 5K, that the July 4 event is canceled, and “can’t in good conscience proceed.”

“The COVID-19 global pandemic has impacted everyone in ways no living person has ever experienced,” organizers said in a news release on the Facebook page. “It is impossible at this time to estimate when the forced closures, social distancing or the group assembly restrictions currently being enforced will be relaxed.”

Last year’s Run attracted more than 1,200 runners from throughout the nation.

Those who have registered already will have fees refunded in 7 to 10 business days.

Efforts will start in January to operate next year’s run, on July 3, 2021.
