Sycamore girls bowler Alexis Munch announced her commitment to Augustana on Thursday.
As a senior, Munch posted an average of 184.4 from the leadoff spot in coach Andy Hampton’s lineup. She bowled personal bests of 269 for a single game and 1,197 for a six-game series at the Kaneland Sectional to finish 19th. She rolled a 1,070 series on day one at state to help Sycamore place 13th as a team.
Munch was a three-year varsity bowler and two-time all-conference selection. Munch turned in a 1,170 series to help the Spartans to a regional championship as a junior and her 1,048 helped Sycamore place second at the Rockford Jefferson Sectional. Her pinfall of 2,038 over 12 games at state placed her 71st individually, as Hampton’s outfit finished ninth in the team standings.
Munch joins a Viking program that will be entering its fourth season of varsity competition and its first in the College Conference of Illinois & Wisconsin in 2020-21. Coach Seth Tegtmeier led Augustana to a second-place finish in the Central Intercollegiate Bowling Conference in 2019-20, his first season as head coach.
