Joliet and other area chambers promote blue ribbon campaign

Local Chambers of Commerce have started a blue ribbon campaign to show support for health care workers and first responders during the COVID-19 pandemic,

Businesses and residents are encouraged to display blue ribbons physically, virtually, or both.

The Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry is partnering with the Tinley, Mokena, New Lenox, Lockport, Frankfort and Orland Park area chambers in the campaign.

“Tie blue ribbons or any blue fabric to the trees on your property,” said Jen Howard, president of the Joliet Region Chamber of Commerce and Industry, said in a news release announcing the campaign. “Use what you already have at home. Or draw blue ribbons on paper and put them up on your front door and windows and vehicles windows.”

Howard also suggests posting the campaign to social media with an image of a blue ribbon and tagging a local health care facility, first responder location or favorite health care hero.

“It would be wonderful to see every tree, home, car, and social media page sporting a blue ribbon,” Howard said.
