Shorewood’s Village Board approved the creation of the Utility Relief Program on April 14.
The program will waive up to two months of fees for water, sewer, and refuse services to qualifying Shorewood residents.
To qualify, residents must be a Shorewood utility customer and be approved by the State of Illinois to receive unemployment insurance as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Written proof of unemployment insurance is required.
Additional program criteria and details are available with the Utility Relief Program application.
To apply, visit vil.shorewood.il.us/departments/finance/utilityreliefprogram.aspx.
Paper copies of the application are also available on the same webpage and may be mailed to Village Hall or dropped off in the utility payment drop box outside Village Hall.
In addition to the Utility Relief Program, the village has taken other steps to assist all residents during this challenging time. The village is not disconnecting delinquent utility customers and late fees are not being charged to past due accounts.
