Will County treasurer announces new deadlines, procedures for property taxes

The Will County Treasurer's Office announced new deadlines and procedures for residents to pay their property taxes amid the novel coronavirus pandemic.

Real estate tax bills will be mailed beginning May 1, according to a news release. The first installment payment will be due June 3.

Treasurer Tim Brophy is encouraging all residents to use an alternative method to pay their taxes to avoid coming into the office and waiting in long lines during the pandemic.

Residents can mail their payments in the envelope included with their tax bill to Treasurer, 302 N. Chicago St., Joliet, IL 60432.

They also can pay at their personal bank or any banks collecting on behalf of the treasurer's office. The locations of those banks can be found at www.willcountytreasurer.com.

Residents also can pay online at the treasurer's website. There is no charge for direct payment from a personal checking account.

They also can drop off a payment in one of the two drop boxes at the Will County Building at 302 N. Chicago St. in Joliet. There is one in the parking lot and one in the building's lobby.

Residents with questions or concerns can call Brophy's office at 815-740-4675 or email treasurer@willcountyillinois.com.
