Wanted man fatally wounded on Parkwood Drive

An Aurora man gunned down on Parkwood Drive in Joliet died early Saturday morning at Silver Cross Hospital in New Lenox, according to the Will County Coroner's Office.

Treshon Holland, 24, was pronounced deceased shortly after 5:19 a.m., the coroner's office said in a statement released Saturday.

"Mr. Holland appears to be the victim of multiple gunshot wounds that occurred on the 1100 Block of Parkwood Drive," the coroner's office said in the statement.

The Joliet Police Department released no information on Holland's death Saturday.

Holland was arrested in April 2019 following a high speed chase over the Des Plaines River, Joliet police said at the time.

A witness to the chase said he saw Joliet squad cars "going over 100 mph down Midland" Avenue.

The man, who asked not to be identified, said he got in his car and gave chase himself but could not keep up with the cop cars. He then noticed Interstate 80 was backing up and went to Wheeler Avenue to see if he could get a better view.

"The state police had 80 shut down at the bridge," he said he later discovered.

Holland and a second man were arrested on I-80 at Chicago Street, police said at the time.

Holland was held at the Will County jail for nearly 10 months before he pleaded guilty to charges of possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, aggravated fleeing and eluding, and obstructing justice in order to enter the county's special drug court program.

Successfully completing the drug court program would have allowed Holland to avoid a conviction in his case, but it was determined on March 2 that he left a treatment program and was in violation of his drug court contract, according to court records.

A warrant was issued for Holland's arrest and he was wanted at the time of his death, records show.

An autopsy was scheduled to be performed Saturday, according to the coroner's office.
