Visiting Kane court buildings? Masks required by May 1

Chief judge issues mask order for public safety during pandemic

ST. CHARLES TOWNSHIP – Everyone entering any Kane County Court building must wear a face covering effective May 1, Chief Judge Clint Hull announced in a news release.

This is to be in compliance with the recommendations from Centers for Disease Control and Gov. JB Pritzker’s executive order, the release stated.

The order is to protect the health of the general public and the courthouse employees from potential exposure to the COVID-19 virus in areas where it may not be possible to practice responsible social distancing at all times while conducting court business.

In the case of an emergency, and where a person has no covering or mask available, there may be a small supply of masks at the Judicial Center available for use that have been sewn by the inmates at the Kane County Adult Corrections Center.

If no masks are available, then other alternative means may be initiated including contacting the person by phone to complete any court petitions or orders and conducting the hearing remotely by teleconference or video.

Kane County Courts will continue to follow the recommendations of health officials during the current pandemic to maintain the safety of all persons wishing to conduct business, the release stated.
