The number of COVID-19 cases at Alden Terrace of McHenry has risen from 99 to 120, and the number of deaths has risen from three to four, according to numbers released by the Illinois Department of Public Health on Friday.
At The Fountains at Crystal Lake, one new case and two new deaths have been reported for a total of 67 cases and six deaths, according to the IDPH.
The number of cases reported by the state and the number of cases facilities are reporting to families could differ.
According to the McHenry County Department of Health, long-term care facilities are required to immediately report any COVID-19-like illness to their local health departments. These numbers then are reported from the local health department to the IDPH.
Someone with known exposure to a laboratory confirmed case of COVID-19 who also is experiencing symptoms compatible with the virus meets the outbreak case definition for the IDPH.
According to the MCDH, some facilities may only be telling residents and their families about the number of residents and staff who tested positive.
