OSF St. Elizabeth named a top hospital by watchdog group

OSF HealthCare St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Ottawa has been named a top hospital by health care watchdog agency Leapfrog Group.

St. Elizabeth in Ottawa was one of five OSF Healthcare facilities to receive an "A" grade from the group, which they say is one of the most prestigious distinctions a hospital can receive in the United States.

“We are pleased but not surprised at these high ratings,” said Hospital President Ken Beutke in a Thursday news release. “Providing the highest level of care has always been our focus. Our teams are pushing higher on safety and quality standards and collaborating together to continue to keep getting these high scores. We are proud of our Mission Partners and honored to be recognized this way.”

The results of Leapfrog Group's rating come from a 2019 hospital survey that considers many areas of hospital care, including infection rates, maternity care and a hospital's ability to prevent medical errors.
