DIXON – Sauk Valley Community College will be hosting a virtual commencement later this month because of coronavirus restrictions.
The ceremony will be streamed live at 7 p.m. May 29 on the college's Facebook page and YouTube channel.
"We know this is the highlight of the college experience for students and their families," the college said in a news release. "It is a celebration of our students’ accomplishments and a sense of pride for the college. But, we must be responsible in the face of uncertainty surrounding COVID-19 and take into consideration the health and well-being of our students and the Sauk community."
Speakers will include Sauk President Dave Hellmich and Sauk board Chairman Bob Thompson.
A graduation cap, tassel, and ceremony program will be mailed to students participating in the virtual ceremony at no charge, and those graduating will be invited to walk in the 2021 commencement.
