Only one resident of the Illinois Veterans Home at La Salle has tested positive for COVID-19, a spokesman confirmed Monday.
Saturday, the Illinois Department of Public Health reported the Veterans Home had one case of COVID-19.
"Today, thanks to the diligence, care, and professionalism of team IVHL," all other residents' tests except the one confirmed case
have come back negative, said
Evan Fazio, public information officer with the Illinois Department of Veterans' Affairs on Monday afternoon.
“Efforts to test all staff and residents began immediately upon confirmation of a single positive case at the home,” he said. “All staff tests so far have also been negative, although some tests are still being returned.”
When asked where the one confirmed resident is recovering, Fazio said he is not legally allowed to release that information.
Any further positive COVID-19 cases at the Illinois Veterans Home at La Salle will be posted at this website, https://www2.illinois.gov/veterans/homes/Pages/Notifications.aspx.
The home on the north side of
La Salle provides care for up to 184 veterans, to include 40 special needs veterans, according to its website. The home opened in December 1990.
