Stade’s Farm and Market in McHenry will be open for an apple cider doughnut pickup event on Mother’s Day weekend, selling fresh apple cider doughnuts for $10 a dozen Saturday and Sunday.
Stade’s, 3709 Miller Road, will be open from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday and from 9 a.m. to noon Sunday, while supplies last. Doughnuts are available on a first-come, first-served basis. The first 200 moms will receive a special gift.
There is a limit of two dozen doughnuts a vehicle, and only cash will be accepted.
Customers must stay in their cars during pickup. Stade's employees will wear face masks and gloves. A video will be posted Saturday morning with instructions on where to go when you arrive at Stade's, according to its Facebook page.
“Our customers have been asking for us to do this, bring back the doughnuts, so we’re going to do it for this weekend only,” Stephanie Stade Townsend said. “We advertised it two days ago on Facebook, and there’s been lots of feedback.
“Tons of people are saying they will be there and be there early. We’re excited. It will be a simple process. Pull in, pay, get them and go.”
Stade’s normally opens Memorial Day weekend, but that still is up in the air, Stade Townsend said. Stade’s has been working with the local health department to make sure it is following and adhering to all safety guidelines and procedures.
Stade Townsend said they are hopeful to be open for strawberry-picking season by mid-June.
“We’re super excited because we think our customers are going to love it,” Stade Townsend said. “We can’t wait to see everyone. There’s not much to do right now – why not drive to the country and get some doughnuts?”
