Sauk Valley Bank in Sterling secures $20,000 relief grant for area nonprofits

STERLING – Sauk Valley Bank secured a $20,000 relief grant through the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago's COVID-19 Relief Program that will be shared by 10 area nonprofits.

The Sauk Valley Food Bank, Tri-County Opportunity Council, United Way of Whiteside County, United Way of Lee County, YMCA of Sterling, YMCA of Dixon, YWCA of Sterling, Northwestern Illinois Center for Independent Living, St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry, and Sterling Rock Falls Day Care will share the grant.

“Our nonprofits provide so much for our communities, but due to this crisis they’re struggling, and they need our support now more than ever,” Dirk Meminger, president and CEO, said in a news release.

“This relief grant is urgently needed for our nonprofit organizations, and as a locally-owned community bank, we’re committed to doing everything we can to help our communities," Meminger said.

"It's in coming together that we are stronger as a community. We are all in this together, and we will get through these difficult times together.”

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago's COVID-19 Relief Program provides FHLBank Chicago member and associate member financial institutions with access to acquire a grant of up to $20,000 to assist nonprofit organizations within their communities that have been directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
