Village of Lakewood sells land for Oasis travel center

This is what the Oasis on 176/47 may look like by the spring of 2022, with an Amoco station and convenience store, a Subway, a Dunkin' Donuts and a wine and cheese bar.

The village of Lakewood announced at its board meeting Tuesday night the sale of approximately 10 acres of land at the intersection of Routes 176 and 47, which will be used for development.

Lakewood Board of Trustees president Phil Stephan said the sale was to Oasis on 176/47. A travel center at that location will be anchored by an Amoco gas station and convenience store, and will also have a Subway, Dunkin’ Donuts and a wine and cheese bar.

“We think this project will spur further development at this intersection, and are very pleased we were able to accomplish this in a manner that will increase revenues for Lakewood taxing bodies, especially the schools, rather than utilize subsidies or TIF funds,” Stephan said.

Oasis on 176/47 is the largest development the village has ever approved. It is scheduled to open in the spring of 2022.
