Like everything else these days, McHenry's Fiesta Days is looking at some changes.
The Fiesta Days Art and Street Fair Weekend will move to September and Cask and Barrel Night will become a standalone fall event. The event's Music Weekend has been canceled.
"We were optimistic that our Music Fest First Weekend could still go ahead in July, but because of the continuing impact of the COVID-19 virus, we must put the safety of our audiences, artists, staff and volunteers first," according to a news release. "Please know how sharply we feel and share your disappointment."
Fiesta Days Art and Street Fair Weekend will incorporate some traditional events and some new items. In addition to Arts and Crafts in the Park, there will be a Makers Zone with family-friendly Do-It-Yourself art, artist demonstrations and workshops, a Celebrity Battle of the Brushes and a parade culminating in Miller Point with live music, food trucks, beer and fireworks.
There also will be a film festival. Aspiring filmmakers, both youth and adults, will be able to have their films screened by local audiences, along with themed movie nights.
Cask and Barrel Night, featuring craft, whiskey and beer, does not have a date or location finalized at this time. Its debut sold out last year.
"Naturally, the pandemic we are currently experiencing is unprecedented and unpredictable, and we will certainly follow guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and our government leaders," according to the release. "The health, safety and well-being of our participants, neighbors, volunteers and staff is our foremost concern."
