Rock Falls High School announces graduation plan, cancels prom

ROCK FALLS – Preliminary graduation plans have been announced for seniors at Rock Falls High School, but they'll miss out on prom.

The school will have a drive-through ceremony from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. June 25 and from noon to 4 p.m. June 26 because of the ongoing COVID-19 situation, the school announced on its Facebook page this afternoon.

Students and family members will drive on the S-curve and stop in front of Forrest Tabor Gymnasium, where seniors can pick up diploma jackets and have their pictures taken.

Diplomas will be sent to students next week.

Any further graduation plans, or any changes to them, will be announced at a later date.

Prom is canceled, the school said in the Facebook post, citing provisions in Gov. J.B. Pritzker's five-phase plan for reopening the state.

Junior students and prom parent coordinators will meet at a later date to determine any alternate plans and operating costs.
