Because lockdown orders have disrupted many of the area's regularly scheduled outdoor summer concerts, Brian McDonnell of Batavia notes his band, The Wayouts, will be going virtual.
The band is working in partnership with the Downers Grove Park District to enable music fans to "stay in and rock out" as the community's summer concert series goes virtual, McDonnell stated in a news release.
The popular free concert series moves online, streaming live every other Tuesday from May 26 to Aug. 18.
The "Virtual Summer Concert Series" kicks off with The Wayouts playing their authentic 1960s garage rock at 7 p.m. May 26.
Music lovers everywhere are invited to watch the performance from the comfort of their laptops, smart TVs or mobile devices, he said.
In recognition of the challenges facing all communities during COVID-19, The Wayouts will donate a portion of their fee to Downers Grove's FISH food pantry.
"We're honored to be the first act in the virtual format, and hope it can serve as a blueprint for other communities to follow until we can all congregate safely in person," McDonnell said.
The Wayouts concert will stream live at www.facebook.com/DownersGroveParks.
