Families looking to enjoy going to the movies this summer will be able to do so in Romeoville.

The village of Romeoville announced five family-friendly movie dates for its Route 66 Drive-In Movie Theater, according to a news release. The screenings will be held behind the Romeoville Athletic & Event Center, located at 680 Townhall Drive.

Screenings will be June 12, June 26, July 11, July 24 and Aug. 10, with show times starting around 9 p.m. The movies will include The Secret Life of Pets II and Frozen II.

Romeoville Mayor John Noak said in the release a drive-in format will help keep families safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.

There will be a maximum number of cars allowed in for each movie and all cars must be pre-registered to enter. Cars will be staggered to allow for social distancing and safety.
