The University of Illinois Extension Bureau, LaSalle and Marshall-Putnam 4-H honor the seniors of 2020.
Cassandra “Cassie” Johnson is a member of the PC Progressors, M-P Federation (officer), Marshall-Putnam 4-H Ambassador, Tech Changemakers and, over her 4-H career, participated in Shooting sports, Sooo 4-H Sewing SPIN Club and Teen Teachers.
Her favorite project is usually a project in visual arts. “I like to express my creative side. I really like creating my clay/ceramics projects.”
While in 4-H, Johnson learned how to be speak up and take charge. She learned about leadership, community service and she said, “4-H has made her into who she is today.”
“It’s hard to pick a favorite memory, but I loved spending time with my club at our fun night and countless events during fair week,” Johnson said.
Johnson’s advice to younger 4-H’er is “don’t be afraid to try new things, you may just find something you love.”
Johnson plans on going to Illinois Valley Community College and transferring to a four-year college and major in graphic design.
When asked if she had anyone she would like to thank, she replied, “I would like to thank my parents, Tonni Wink, Margy Mattern, Anne Scheel and so many others who has helped me in any way.”
