Oswegoland Park District pools to remain closed for the season

The Oswegoland Park District's Civic Center Aquatic Park and Winrock Park Pool will remain closed for the 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a statement posted to the park district's Facebook page Tuesday afternoon June 9, park district officials said they considered "all feasible scenarios for providing the Oswegoland community our popular summer aquatic facilities" but had "come to the difficult, yet important, decision to keep both the Civic Center Aquatic Park and Winrock Pool closed for the 2020 season."

The statement continues: "This decision was not taken lightly. The district has thoroughly reviewed the health, safety, financial, and operational challenges created by the COVID-19 pandemic. Based on the guidelines issued for Aquatics under Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan, it would not be possible for the district to ensure the health and safety of our guests and staff, while also ensuring the ongoing financial health of our aquatics programs.

"We know that this is disappointing news to hear. We are hopeful for brighter days ahead, and we look forward to welcoming our community back for the 2021 season."

The Civic Center Aquatic Park is located at 5 Ashlawn Avenue in Oswego. Winrock Park Pool is located at 21 Winrock Road in the unincorporated Boulder Hill subdivision.
