Arrest made in Richards Street murder case

A Crest Hill man was captured and jailed in connection with a an early Friday morning killing on Richards Street, according to police.

Nathaniel Hill, 41, was arrested on Parkwood Drive near Bogdan Lane shortly before 6 a.m. Friday, Joliet police records show.

Hill was arrested in connection with the killing of Joliet resident Derrick Williams-Scott, 32, police said.

Williams-Scott was found fatally wounded on the front steps of a residence on Richards Street between David and Maude avenues less than six hours before Hill was taken into custody, according to police.

The officers who located Williams-Scott's body were responding to a report of shots fired, police said.

Williams, who had been shot multiple times, was transported to AMITA Saint Joseph Medical Center, where he died within an hour of the officers finding him on the steps of the home on Richards Street, police said.

Hill, who lives in an apartment on Pioneer Road, was taken to the Will County jail and booked Friday evening on probable cause of murder, county jail records show.

Hill appeared in court Monday and his bond was set at $5 million, according to county jail records.

Hill was scheduled to return to court Monday afternoon, county jail records show.
