Driver alert: summer road closures in DeKalb County

Several roads in DeKalb County will be closed for a time this summer as construction crews work on road maintenance and repairs, according to a news release from the DeKalb County Highway Department.

Suydam Road between Gletty Road and Illinois Route 23 began daily closures to through traffic from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday for culvert replacements. Daily closures will continue for about three weeks at different locations along this route.

McNeal Road, about less than half a mile east of West County Line Road in Franklin Township is closed to all traffic for the replacement of the bridge over the South Branch of the Kishwaukee River. This closure is expected to continue until Oct. 31. Sjostrom & Sons, Inc. from Rockford will be the contractor for this $1,976,412.68 project, according to the release.
