Plano Community Library building now open; patrons asked to adhere to several new requirements

Plano Community Library is now open and staff members are excited to welcome patrons back into the building. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the library must follow standards from the state of Illinois for the reopening. Here is what patrons can expect:

New requirements

In order to help protect our patrons and staff, the library asks that you adhere to the following requirements when visiting our building:

• Wear a face covering or mask at all times.

• Maintain social distancing at least 6 feet apart.

• Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer often.

• Wipe down equipment with disinfecting wipes before use.

• No food or drink allowed inside the library.

• All returns must be placed in the book drops outside the library. We cannot accept returns at the service desks.

Library spaces

• The public computers are not available at this time due to a computer upgrade. They are expected to be available in early July.

• All public meeting rooms and study rooms are closed at this time.

• The number of patrons in the building at one time will be limited.

• Signs have been placed on the floor for social distancing at service desks.

• Elevators are limited to one person/family at a time.

• Drinking fountains are closed.

• Vending machines are not available.

• Early Learning Computers in the Kids’ Library have been removed.

• All toys and games have been removed from the Kids’ Library.

Using your library from home

Plano Library staff understands that not everyone is ready to come to visit in person yet. Services that you can access from home or outside the building will continue to be provided.

• Two web-based and mobile options are available for participating in the Summer Reading Program.

• Curbside services for material pickup, faxing, printing and copying will continue.

• Library cards can be obtained without coming into the library.

• The library’s Wi-Fi range will continue to be expanded outside the building.

The Plano Community Library is at 15 W. North St. in Plano. Library hours are Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Friday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
