Waubonsee Community College to offer online Public Health Tracing program

SUGAR GROVE – Waubonsee Community College is now offering a Public Health Contact Tracing Program, as the need for contract tracers is expected to increase, according to a news release from the college.

This two-week training program is conducted online and prepares people for work as a contact tracer in the fight against the coronavirus. Contact tracers could earn up to $24 per hour, the release stated.

Course participants will learn the key components of contact tracing, protecting health information and ethics, data management and technology use, as well as coronavirus transmission reduction practices. Participants must be 18 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be proficient in English and have a computer with audio and video capabilities with reliable internet connection.

For people who know languages in addition to English, it is expected that bi-lingual contact tracers will be in high demand.

This course is aligned with the guidelines established by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention for contract tracing. The course costs $49 and takes 12-15 hours to complete.
