1776 Restaurant won the Award of Excellence in Wine Spectator's 2020 Restaurant Awards for its wine program.
This award "recognizes restaurants whose wine lists feature a well-chosen assortment of quality producers along with a thematic match to the menu in both price and style," according to a press release.
1776 Restaurant is scheduled to open 25 percent of its indoor dining on Wednesday.
Rhienna McClain, owner of 1776 Restaurant explained in the press release that local businesses will need continued support from the community as they recover from the effects of the pandemic.
“We’re proud to be the only restaurant in McHenry County with this award and we hope it gives patrons another reason to visit,” McClain said. “We are proud of this community and are so grateful to call it home. It’s such a challenging time for everyone. We are happy to continue to be able to provide an award-winning wine list to our patrons.”
Erik Nordstrom, the Wine and Spirits Director for 1776, said in the release “given the current economic climate, this award is more meaningful than ever before.
“This community deserves a one-of-a-kind experience -- one where every single person can find exactly what they are looking for, whether that’s in the food, drink or simply the camaraderie. This award speaks volumes to that vision.”
1776, located in Crystal Lake is a farm-to-table style restaurant. "Specializing in locally sourced ingredients, great wine, and gluten-free and allergy-friendly dishes,” the release said.
