Teresa Sykes to appear at Good News Comedy night in Dixon

DIXON – Good News Comedy Night, featuring evangelist, playwright, actor, vocalist and comedian Teresa Sykes, will be at 7 p.m. Aug. 7 at Sauk Valley Community Church, 498 state Route 2.

Lisa Janes, stand-up comedian, sketch writer, singer, character actor and motivational speaker, will open the show.

General admission tickets cost $20, those that include a meet-and-greet cost $35. Doors open at 6 p.m for the meet-and-greet at and at 6:50 p.m. for show-only ticket holders. Seating is limited to 50.

Sykes won a “Black Theatre Alliance Award” nomination for her 1995 debut performance as the fairy godmother from Jamaica in “The Other Cinderella,” and appeared in "Almost Christmas" with Danny Glover and "The Matchmaker," with Shirley Murdock.

Socially distanced seating will be employed and masks are encouraged.
