DeKALB – According to a Facebook post, Fatty's Pub and Grille, 1312 W. Lincoln Highway in DeKalb, which closed Sunday after several staff members came into contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19, will remain closed while those staff members get re-tested.
"The staff members that were exposed have all tested negative," the post reads. "Our owner in an abundance of caution has asked those staff members to get retested again today before we consider re-opening."
The popular sports bar and restaurant was closed Monday for deep cleaning after a few employees came in contact with someone not at Fatty’s who tested positive for COVID-19.
The employees notified Fatty’s by phone on Sunday, and the restaurant closed preemptively Sunday.
The employees that were exposed have been taken off of Fatty’s schedule and, consistent with CDC guidelines, will not be permitted to return to work until they have completed a 14-day quarantine and are symptom-free or receive a negative COVID-19 test result, according to the post.
According to the post, Fatty’s prioritizes the health and safety of their customers and employees.
“When we learn of an exposure or someone experiencing symptoms, even when they haven't tested positive for COVID-19, we take additional precautions, such as closing for deep cleaning, which is why we are closed today,” according to the post. “Fatty's continues to follow federal, state and local public health guidance regarding social distancing and wearing face coverings. All employees are required to wear masks at all times for our customer safety and employees are required to complete a daily health screening before each shift.”
