Black Bear Bistro in Algonquin is temporarily closed after receiving word that an employee has been exhibiting mild cold-like symptoms.

The employee of the restaurant, 107 S. Main St., is now waiting for COVID-19 test results. According to a Facebook post, the employee has not had any contact with anyone who has tested positive for the coronavirus.

“Though no other employee has experienced any symptoms, we have decided to close the restaurant in order to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees and customers,” Black Bear Bistro wrote. “We will remain closed until we receive more information regarding the employee’s condition and test result. We greatly appreciate the honesty and urgency demonstrated by this employee.”

If the employee receives a positive test result, all Black Bear Bistro employees will be required to undergo a COVID-19 test before returning to work, and the restaurant will be professionally sanitized in adherence with Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines, according to the Facebook post.
