MAPLE PARK – Organizers of the Maple Park Fun Fest announced that the popular end-of-summer event has been canceled because of the pandemic. The event had been scheduled for Sept. 5-6.
According to a post on the Maple Park Fun Fest's Facebook page, the decision came down to the safety of the community.
"The safety of our volunteers, vendors, patrons and community members is our highest concern, and we will not put anyone at risk," the post stated.
There had been a Go Fund Me page set up to raise money to support the 2020 Maple Park Fun Fest, and all donations raised for this year's festival will now go to next year's event.
Each year, the Maple Park Fun Fest draws around 2,000 people to the village for a craft show, car show, bags tournament, kids' bike and wagon parade, food vendors, live entertainment and more.
