Amazon hiring 1,000-plus workers in Channahon

Amazon said it plans to fill more than 1,000 full-time positions at its new fulfillment center in Channahon.

The logistics industry giant announced last year it would open its new fulfillment center in Channahon at 23714 W. Amoco Road.

Amazon also has local facilities in Joliet, Romeoville, Crest Hill and Monee.

"We’re excited to welcome two new Amazon facilities, bringing Channahon not only numerous jobs, but great economic opportunity,” said Channahon Mayor Missey Moorman Schumacher in a news release. “We look forward to enjoying a positive partnership with Amazon in our community.

Amazon also said it recently launched a new "sort center" located at 23700 W. Bluff Road which is hiring for part-time positions. At sort centers, associates sort customer orders by final destination and consolidate them onto trucks for faster delivery.

“Amazon is thrilled to become a part of the Channahon community, and we look forward to opening our new fulfillment center here this fall,” said Amazon Director of Operations Jerry VanHook in the release. “We look forward to bringing the city more than 1,000 full-time jobs with industry-leading pay and comprehensive benefits starting on day one.”

The company said on top of paying workers $15 per hour, it also offers full-time employees comprehensive benefits including full medical, vision and dental insurance and a 401(k) with 50% matching.
