Marklund is hosting a one-hour charitiable event called the "Cyber Classic" to raise funding for the nonprofit organization that serves individuals with disabilities.
The virtual event is on Aug. 27 and is expected to run from 6 to 7 p.m. Registration is free, but one must register to participate, and must also be 21 or over to participate.
Several celebrity appearances are expected, including former Chicago Blackhawks All-Star Jeremy Roenick, Chicago Bears Hall of Fame linebacker Mike Singletary and Masters tournament champion and professional golf standout, Craig Stadler.
Sponsorship opportunities are available. Specific details regarding that can be found here.
"Since 1954, Marklund has been making everyday life possible for individuals with profound disabilities," the event page reads. "With three campuses in Bloomingdale, Elgin, and Geneva, our care simply will not stop during a global pandemic, and neither does our support of every staff member, resident, student, and family that is part of our organization. Marklund is proud to provide a happy, safe, purpose-filled life for every individual served."
"During this challenging moment in history, we've created the safest way for Marklund to raise the critical funding needed to continue our mission and vital 24-hour nursing care. Join us for some unconventional fun and camaraderie on our virtual platform from the comforts of your own home or office—and help us empower our staff and families through your support."
