Police: Man arrested in connection with Bolingbrook stabbing

Victim hospitalized with non-life threatening injuries

A Broadview man was arrested for stabbing another man at a Best Western hotel in Bolingbrook on Friday afternoon, police said.

Police officers were dispatched to the 200 block of West South Frontage Road in Bolingbrook in reference to a stabbing at the hotel, according to a police statement from Lt. Anthony Columbus.

When officers arrived, they found the alleged offender, Kenneth Barker, 44, of Broadview, at the scene, Columbus.

Officers learned the victim, a 20-year-old man, was in the hotel lobby filling out paperwork when Barker walked up and stabbed him several times, according to Columbus. The victim and Barker did not know each other and police do not know why Barker stabbed him, Columbus said.

Barker was also a patron at the Best Western, Columbus said.

The victim ran from Barker and was located at an area business, Columbus said, and was transported to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with non-life threatening injuries.

Columbus said the victim has since been released from the hospital.

Barker was arrested on probable cause of aggravated battery and booked into the Will County Jail around 5:30 p.m. Friday, jail records show. He was scheduled for a Saturday morning court appearance.
