STERLING – Sterling police arrested Jonas M. Gragert, 34, of Sterling, on five counts of possession of child pornography on Wednesday.
Police received a complaint on Aug. 21 of Gragert being in possession of videos and pictures of children involved in sexual conduct with adults. As a result of this information, and a subsequent investigation, a search warrant was obtained for Gragert's residence, according to a press release from the Sterling Police Department.
At about 6 a.m. Wednesday, Sterling police, assisted by the Attorney General's High Tech Crime Bureau executed the search warrant. Gragert was found to be in possession of electronic photos and videos of minors in sexual acts with adults. None of the minors seen in the photos or videos are believed to be from the area, however, the investigation is ongoing in an attempt to identify those victims.
Gragert was taken to Whiteside County jail.
