Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital will host a free child car seat safety event next week.
The event, which will take place 1 to 4 p.m. Tuesday, will feature certified child passenger safety technicians, who will teach parents and caregivers about current laws and best practices to keep children safe in a vehicle from birth and beyond.
Car seat checks include car seat safety inspection, installation observation and demonstrations that include a vehicle seat.
“Studies have found that more than half of children’s car seats are installed or used incorrectly,” Dawn Roznowski, director of community affairs, said in a news release. “Our technicians provide parents and caregivers tips to ensure the seats are appropriately attached to the vehicle and that children are safely secured in their seats.”
The event will be in the southeast corner of the hospital’s parking lot.
Community members should call 630-933-4234 to register for the event. Social distancing guidelines will be in place, including the use of face masks for people ages 2 and older.
