Valley View School District expands remote meals program

Valley View School District 365U announced its adding two new times for parents to pick up meal kits for students during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Valley View School District 365U is adding afternoon pickup times for its remote meals program.

The district, which includes schools in Bolingbrook and Romeoville, offers meals to any child in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic, according to a news release.

Valley View already has meal pickup times at five district schools from 9 a.m. to noon Tuesdays and Thursdays.

In addition, meals will be available for pickup at Oak View Elementary School in Bolingbrook and John J. Lukancic Middle School in Romeoville from 3 to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Curbside pickup at all sites is available for any child in the community under 18 years old.

"These additional pickup times help us better serve the needs of our community," Meghan Gibbons, the district's director of nutrition services, said in the release. "Our parents and students provided valuable feedback; working parents and student class schedules posed a challenge obtaining meals during our existing meal pickup and delivery times. With these later pickup options, we plan to meet that need."

Parents of students enrolled in the district can also order meal kits to be delivered.
