MORRIS — The following letter went out to Morris Community High School families Wednesday evening:
Attached you will find our approved plan for the second quarter, subject to revision as needed. Please take the time to read through this document, as it will answer many of your questions. A few key items:
• Oct. 19-20 will be days for freshmen to attend in-person while everyone else is remote. An alphabetic division of students will be used, with students whose last names start A-L attending the first day, and last names starting M-Z attending the second day.
• Beginning Oct. 21, all grade levels may attend in-person, every other day, using the same alphabetic groups described above. This alternating-day schedule is included in the attached packet and will continue indefinitely.
• We will continue using the same bell schedule, with classes running from 7:40 to 12:15 each day. This decision was made to align with our local elementary schools and the area high schools that attend GAVC and to allow afternoon time for student-teacher consultation both online and in-person.
• If you have any interest in a grab-and-go lunch option, please e-mail Lisa Vaksdal with the name(s) of your student(s), a parent contact phone number, and any food allergies by October 7. Your responses will help us plan for this possibility.
Students who are struggling and need to meet with their teachers prior to October 19 may do so by setting up a mutually convenient afternoon time with their teacher in advance. Please keep in mind that teachers must limit the number of students present at any given time.
Please continue to directly contact the appropriate teachers, counselors, social workers, nurse, administrators, and other staff with questions.
We recognize that no plan will please everyone, and we are still operating under significant restrictions. It is our ultimate goal to get every student back on campus all day, every day. It will take us some time to get there, and we appreciate your patience.
Sincerely,
Craig R. Ortiz, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Morris Community High School District 101
