High school sports roundup for Thursday, Oct. 1

Woodstock North co-op boys golf team finished with a 9-0 dual meet record when it defeated Grayslake North, 171-181, on Thursday.

Aidan Sivore shot 41 to lead the Thunder. Brad Arnold and Sam Berry each shot a 42 and Brady Heeren added a 46.

Marian Central 159, Johnsburg 176: At Boone Creek in McHenry, Dylan Yegge shot 38, while Owen Jager and Mason Schwalbach each shot 39s as the Hurricanes beat the Skyhawks in their nonconference dual meet.

Joseph Louise added a 43 for Marian.

Cody Clawson led the Skyhawks with a 40. Mike Link (43), Mike Preston (45) and Nick Thill (48) finished Johnsburg’s scoring.

GIRLS GOLF

Johnsburg 184, Marian Central 213: At Boone Creek in McHenry, Ellie Johnson fired a 3-over 38 for medalist and the Skyhawks set a school record with their score in a dual win over the Hurricanes.

Gracie Berthoud added a 45, Taylor Blake had a 50 and Riley Klotz shot 51 for Johnsburg, which won the Kishwaukee River Conference Tournament on Wednesday.

Ellie Notaro shot 44 to lead Marian. Ava Notaro and Ingrid Reyes each had a 47 and Kathleen Stumpf and Jasmine Stevens each shot a 75.

Harvard 181, Grant 209: At Valley Ridge in Antioch, the Hornets ended their regular season with a two-person best-ball match victory over the Bulldogs.

Emma Ackland and Julia Chupich shot 38 for Harvard, Joelle McMillan and Aaralynn Schneider shot 40, Alexis Lehmann and Reagan Witt shot 51 and Sophia Elliott and Allison Scott added a 52.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

Woodstock Triangular: At Woodstock, Woodstock North's Hannah Pittman ran the Emricson Park course in 22:04 to win the three-team race.

Woodstock’s Theresa Presisto was second in 22:24, while Johnsburg’s Ellie Bauer and Morgan Klaus took the next two spots.

Woodstock was the only team with a full lineup.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Woodstock Triangular: At Woodstock, Woodstock's Aidan Schleutermann, Jack Hansen and Alex Wickersheim took three of the top four spots as the Blue Streaks won the meet at Emricson Park.

Woodstock scored 21 points, followed Johnsburg (45) and Woodstock North (67).

North’s Jorge Aragon took third and Johnsburg’s Andrew Ardon was fifth.
