Jacobs’ Andrew Doetsch edged out Hampshire’s Isai Morales by about 2 seconds and the Golden Eagles put five runners in the top seven of a District 300 cross country meet on Saturday in Hampshire.
Jacobs beat Hampshire, 22-33, and defeated Dundee-Crown, 15-40. Hampshire beat D-C, 15-46.
Doetsch won in 16:03.78, while Morales finished in 16:05.69.
Jacobs’ Connor Maloney was fourth, followed by teammates Kyle Horn, Mitchell Ruffin and Aidan DeMuth in the fifth through seventh spots.
Hampshire’s Aidan Gonzalez was fourth.
D-C was led by Daniel Montoya in 11th place.
Lakes Invitational: At Lake Villa, Marengo's Luke Chaffin and Zach Secor took 1-2 in the flighted race to lead the Indians to second place out of six teams on Friday.
Aaron Moehrlin was 10th in that Flight 3 (top three runners on each team), which was comprised of the top three runners on each team.
Deerfield won the meet with 37 points, Marengo had 64 and Antioch was third with 80.
Marengo’s Tommy Lulinski took fourth in Flight 2 (fourth through sixth runners) and Patrick Signore was eighth and Preston Bailey was ninth.
GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY
District 300 meet: At Hampshire, Jacobs' Kelly Carpenter led four Golden Eagles in the top five spots as they beat Hampshire and Dundee-Crown.
Carpenter won in 19:01.41, 1:10 ahead of D-C’s Melina Garcia (20:11.10) in second place. Jacobs’ Adeline Gorman, Avery Mason and Alyssa Madera took the next three spots.
Jacobs beat D-C, 20–38, and defeated Hampshire, 15-47. D-C beat Hampshire, 19-39.
Lakes Invitational: At Lake Villa, Marengo's Savannah Swanson took 16th in Flight 3 (top three runners on each team at the six-team meet on Friday. The Indians finished sixth with 152 points.
BOYS GOLF
Antioch Quadrangular: At Spring Valley in Antioch, Sam Berry shot 88 and Brad Arnold had an 88 as Woodstock North finished second among four teams.
Antioch shot 351 for first, North had 365, followed by Richmond-Burton (374) and Johnsburg (398).
