A Sept. 25 email from Rockdale School Superintendent Paul Schrik outlined the school board's approval of his plan to form a transition team.
In his email, Schrik said, “At the last regular meeting of the Rockdale Board Of Education, the Board approved my recommendation to develop a Transition team of different stakeholders to establish a plan of how and when Rockdale School might move from full remote learning to a place where our students are coming back to school”.
In an email to The Herald-News, Schrik explained that the hybrid model to be presented to the board would have students separated into two groups, with each group representing half of the schools population and attend classes twice a week from 8:20 am to 12:20 pm.The remainder of the school day would be conducted remotely from home.
The the plan would likely be submitted to the board Oct. 21.
“Factors such as the virus positivity rate for our zip code, our county, and our region along with the availability of staff and substitutes, will be considered when developing a plan and direction for the district,” Schrik said. “To sum up, I am not guaranteeing students are returning to school following the October 21st Board Meeting.”
In a statement to The Herald-News, Principal Jeffery Peterson expressed gratitude to parents and staff.
“I just want to sincerely thank all of our stakeholders from parents, to grandparents, babysitters etc. to the students and our amazing staff for their hard work to pull off the remote learning model," Peterson said.
