High school sports roundup for Thursday, Oct. 8

Jacobs finished its Fox Valley Conference dual meet season with a 6-1 victory over Hampshire Thursday in girls tennis in Algonquin.

The Golden Eagles got wins from Isha Desai (No. 1), Lara Santa Ines (No. 2) and Sam Seibert (No. 3) in singles action.

In doubles, Kaya Trumbo and Amelia Stoner (No. 1), Anya Wieczorek and Lissie Kontos (No. 3) and Stef Bogs and Alyana Hernandez (No. 4) won for the Eagles.

Hampshire (7-16, 5-11) got its lone win came at No. 2 doubles from Taylor Sweet and Lauren Marckini, who won in three sets.

ESCC Tournament: At Lisle, Marian Central's two doubles teams lost in the consolation finals at the East Suburban Catholic Conference Tournament at Benet Academy.

The Hurricanes’ No. 2 double team of Molly Truckenbrod and Tess Meisner lost in three sets in their consolation bracket final.

No. 1 doubles team of Avery DiGangi and Maggie Gillespie also lost in the consolation bracket.

Selia McManus (No. 1) and Julia Widhalm (No. 2) lost their first two singles matches. Beth Noonan and Kat Strode lost their two No. 3 doubles matches.
