DeKALB – A DeKalb man wanted for breaking into an apartment and striking two men in the head with a gun is facing additional charges after police say he yelled at a CVS manager and spit on a city employee.
According to DeKalb County court records, Dearold K. White, 24, of the 1100 block of West Lincoln Highway, was arrested Friday after police responded to reports that he was yelling and acting belligerent toward a CVS store manager at 1022 W. Lincoln Highway.
It was later discovered he had two active warrants related to an April home invasion.
White is charged with home invasion, armed robbery, aggravated battery, aggravated robbery and criminal damage to property in relation to the April incident, and disorderly conduct, resisting a police officer and aggravated battery in relation to the Friday arrest.
If convicted of the most serious crime, home invasion, White could face up to 30 years in jail or 60 with an extended sentence, and fines up to $25,000.
At a bond hearing this week, DeKalb County Circuit Court Judge Phillip Montgomery set White's bond at $250,000 after the DeKalb County State's Attorney's office requested no bond. White would have to post $25,000 to get out of jail.
Police on Friday responded to reports of a disorderly conduct call around 6:47 p.m., records show, at the CVS on West Lincoln Highway. When officers arrived, they found White yelling at the store manager and attempting to go behind the cash register counter, records state.
Police went to serve him a trespass notice when they discovered additional warrants related to the April home invasion.
According to police reports, on April 27, White broke into an apartment in the 800 block of Ridge Drive, causing damage to the door. He injured two men inside the apartment when he struck them in the head with a firearm, records state, and stole a bag from one of them.
Reports do not indicate what type of gun was used or if it was loaded.
When police were booking White into the DeKalb County Jail Friday following the CVS incident, reports state he spit on a city intern.
He's set to appear before a DeKalb County judge for a hearing Nov. 6 at 9 a.m. at the DeKalb County courthouse.
