DeKalb police ask residents to avoid area as they investigate gunfire on Regent Drive Tuesday

DeKALB – DeKalb police are asking residents to avoid Regent Drive as they investigate reports of gunfire in the area, and DeKalb Acting Police Chief Bob Redel said no injuries have been reported as of 8:39 p.m.

Redel said investigators discovered a main entrance window at an apartment building in the 700 block of Regent is broken, but the investigation is still ongoing.

"That's preliminary at this time," Redel said.

According to a citywide text alert sent around 8:27 p.m. Tuesday, police are investigating a report of shots fired in the 700 block of Regent Drive.

They're asking residents to avoid the area.
