Providence Catholic High School creates virtual open house

With students and their families being wary of attending an open house before starting their high school career, the faculty and students at Providence Catholic have brought the open house to them.

The school’s website has a virtual open house that has videos from every head coach, head of each academic department, tutors, the business office and some students. Videos also inform about tuition, financial aid and scholarships.

Students talk about why they chose Providence and what has made it special.

“Rachel (Ellingson, director of enrollment) really did a phenomenal job coordinating the video production, which was filmed by Mr. David Ripp, a Providence graduate and current parent, who works for Warner Audio Visual, Inc., and his team,” said Allison Rios, director of communications.

Providence is still offering in-person open houses with “very small” groups. Those who would like to attend in person can register at providencecatholic.org.

All of the videos for the open house can be viewed at providencecatholic.org/admissions/virtual-open-house/.

“Combined with our social media, where we try to showcase the students and faculty in class daily, families who are more comfortable learning about us via phone or computer can see what day to day life is like at PCHS,” Rios said. “It was a fun project, too, because we get to highlight every area.”

The videos begin by telling students and their families that registration for the placement exam opens Nov. 20 and the test is Dec. 5.

Students can choose which videos they want to watch as each sport and academic department has its own Youtube video.
