AMITA HEALTH Saint Joseph Medical Center enacts visitor restrictions

AMITA Health Saint Joseph Medical Center Joliet enacted visitor restrictions on Tuesday.

Although St. Joe’s has seen an increase in COVID-19 patients, the limitation of visitors is strictly precautionary, according to an email from Timothy A. Nelson, spokesman for AMITA Health.

One visitor will be allowed in the hospital’s emergency department, labor and delivery and outpatient procedural areas, Nelson said.

This visitor not only must screen negative for COVID-19, this visitor must be the same visitor throughout the patient’s time of care, Nelson said.

No visitors are currently allowed for any inpatients at St. Joe’s unless the circumstances are extraordinary, Nelson said.

Those circumstances may include pediatric patients and patients with special needs, he said.
