As soon as Kevin Molloy State Farm's Thanksgiving food drive finished, it rolled right into its toy drive to wrap up its Quarter of Giving.
The food drive accumulated 45 turkeys for 45 area families to have a Thanksgiving dinner.
This year's toy drive goes until Dec. 15, where on Dec. 16, Molloy and his team will go shopping with the money they receive through donations. Molloy also thanked local New Lenox and Manhattan businesses who got involved this year.
As of Dec. 2, Molloy said they have received $1,100 in cash on top of the toys already donated.
"This morning (Monday), some guy who I don't know was coming out of the dentist office next door when I was walking out of my office and gave me $40," Molloy said. "I've also had people just drop off a $100 check."
Molloy is encouraging people to personally reach out to him if they know of someone in need.
"We'll accommodate to those who have a need," he said. "We have the money to do that and get certain toys. We'll make the arrangements to drop off to that family."
For those that do donate a toy or donate any dollar amount, Molloy wants people to think it's more than just that. And that is his favorite part of the entire Quarter of Giving.
"I want people to feel as good about giving as the people who are receiving," he said. "I hope when you sit down at your table on Thanksgiving or on Christmas morning, you enabled another family to do what you're doing.
"Whatever your tradition is, you have impacted another family. I want people to understand what that means and that you made other people's lives better."
